96 is only needed if you want it for collecting purposes, otherwise it is identical to 97 except for the engine, which probably only contain minor fixes comparing to the 96 one. Levels are exactly the same.

100 Million Years Later, it was discovered that the T-Rex tooth of build 97 was 0.013 units lower to the ground

The PC Gamer version just goes to a black screen and crashes for me.

Hi welcome!

The PC Gamer version is an alpha build so it will have issues on modern computers.
Does it crash when you start it or does it happens when you load a level?

It does it when a boot the game. It just changes my monitor res to 640X480 and then goes to a black screen, then it kicks me to desktop and it closes. I was thinking of running it in a vm but my proccesor dosen't allow me to run VMs from before Xp and are above or below 32 bit. Also can I ask why it asks to delete a dll in system 32 when uninstalled?

It is common that games from the 90's put dll's in the system 32 folder, and then asked if you wanted to remove them when uninstalling. Just select no if you are worried :)

That is weird. Are you on a laptop? Some laptops have 2 graphic cards (one integrated and one external), try changing to the "better" one. Have you tried running the exe with Windows 98 compatibility in the Preference settings of it?

Is there any information on Build 103? Its pretty close to release, so are there any weird alterations? Is it the weird review-copy build that the strategy guide was built from?

The only difference level wise is that BE has different tutorial locations, as seen in some pre-release images. We do not have the build that the strategy guide was made from.
I personally don't believe the strategy guide was made from a specific build as it uses images from what appears to be builds we have and not. AS for example in the strategy guide mention a voiceover that is not present in build 96 and in build 116, it is underground, and only plays when picking up one of two benellis which are not present in any of our builds. My personal speculation is that the devs supplied the information and screenshots (we already know a dev did the images for the animals/guns).

Gotcha, thanks! Could be a neat project to try converting vanilla to the events the strategy guide portrays.
