problems level East Dock

Post by Sir_John »

Hi all

I'm having a problem concerning ED level.
Fist od all I founf the installation rather difficult. Nevertheless, I can select it with the level cheat. But the game ussually craches within 2 min.

When I look in my cdfolder, I see I have ATX 160 installed. Since it requeres Atx 2 , I think my problem lies there. COuld someone give me the link where I can download it, becouse the links on the mainsite appear to be broken

thanks

Can't get it to work at all.
I copied the atx205.zip files into the gamedirectory, got the ATX2.exe file into the directory, but whenever I double click ATX2.exe, it sais fatal error and exits.

Set compatibility to windows 98, that should fix it. :)

as near as I can tell it's a crashy level, I think I remember SI saying Drac (the Drac who made the level not Draco Master) overdid the vegitation so it's not your fault

Sir_John, could we have your system specs please?

There shouldn't be any trouble with the arm - anyway, as far as I can tell, all ATX2 files go in the installation directory and not the CD files folder. As for crashing in the jeep, it's not because of picking up the items, it's the teleportation of a raptor into the area at about that time. Basically, ED works fine on some computers and not others. I am thinking with my update release to ED, I'm also going to make an optimized version of the level, which will not be recommended unless your computer has trouble running the normal one. It won't look near as nice, most likely; some tests will need to be done by people who've been having crashes, after we implement some basic optimizations, to know for sure how much should be taken out for a lower-quality version..

BTW, Rebel if you're reading this, I still need your address to send that CD to...

ok , I finaly got it to work properly.

When I started this level from vanilla + atx, it was all messy. It was snowing instead of raining, sounds were missing, it was uber choppy and always crashed at the point the spiiter was replased.

I tried it about 30 times, evry time resulting in a crash at point jeep. I tended to give up.

Now someone on this forum said that using it in the lagoon did the trick as well. I tried it, resulting in a crach using new game. This night I tried it again, but then I relaised that replasing the files probably wasn't enough, and that I needed to use the cheat as well.

Now the game works like a charm, at a normal framerate, its raining all sounds are proper and I only had one crash it about 20 trails.

using the lagoon seems to have cleaned all mess, and for those who have troubles with this level, I advice doing the same.

Nice level BTW, I love your work :)

In this topic, feel free to discuss any weird things you have experienced while playing East Dock.

And why did you feel it necessary to make this topic if you don't have anything to report on it yourself?

UPDATE: Whoa, guess someone merged the topics.. Thanks, machf. :yum: Though I think a lock would have been more appropriate, since nothing on the actual subject was discussed.
