hppav's Release Thread (Yeah, I'm releasing stuff!)

Post by hppav »

This here will be a thread for me to release random things. Since I can't really work on much due to my modding computer being down and not having Max or Photoshop on this computer, I've decided that I'd start releasing some stuff I've worked on over the years.

Yes, you heard right... I'm releasing stuff. Shocking, I know.

Isla Nublar Modding Toolkit v0.01
What I hope this becomes is a go to source for making Isla Nublar related content. Right now it's a collection of models, textures, and unfinished rtf files. Also none of the pallets are set. If multiple TPMs exist in the same directory, all need to be imported for the model to work. This is because I haven't had the chance to clean up the files yet. Also I think the gates mesh included is the one that DOESN'T work. I have another one that does work that is in the SNES project. Also included is some JPO terrain heightmaps, screenshots, various useful images and maps, and letters isolated from the end credits. There's also a transcript of all the dialogue that I could find in JP SNES.

If you have any comments on this, please let me know so I can make some fixes/changes in the future!

EDIT: Here's images of the models currently included. Future versions will have more models!

hppav's Town Level
This was something I didn't even announce publicly. The admins knew somewhat about it. It's an unfinished remake of the Town designed to look more like the movie. The Ops Center is the most complete aspect, even though there's some texturing issues and I didn't finish making the physics objects yet. I'm certain some of you creative guys will use it for something ;) Here's some screenshots:

hppavTEST
This level is just my fully functioning breaker box and the Jurassic Park Explorers (You heard that right, THE EXPLORERS). As I said before, the bull bars and tail light guards need to be redone with lower poly count, but Explorers 04 and 05 are represented complete with magnets. 06 and 07 need to have magnets made, however.

Have fun with this!

Town - 1987
Another thing that NO ONE knew about was that I was planning on making a comic set in the town using 3d backgrounds rendered by Trespasser... This meant that I would have to create a new and clean version of the Town. I decided against it when I realized that I would likely not be able to keep up working on such a project, but I did start working on a version of the Town set in 1984:

Genetics Lab
I also started working on recreating that lab from JP3:

Pine Valley Remastered
I was starting to work on a complete remake of Trespasser, starting with Pine Valley. The Turbine Shed, Control Building, and some other Geo Plant scenery was all I ever did on it. I think it looks cool and it might inspire some other members here though:

Thanks. I will say that I seem to have forgotten to get the ASA file. Since the CPU fan is what's broken I don't want to boot it back up too often. So to open the security shutter you'll have to edit the level in TresEd and raise it manually that way. It only worked half the time anyway. Someone more talented may be able to do something with that :P

I was at one time. Maybe someday when my modding computer is working again. For now I'll let the community do what it wants with it :P If some people want to get together and work on it with my feedback, then I wouldn't mind.

I'm tempted, but between finishing the arena level, the Pens, the work Slugger and I had been doing, making a low-poly version of ED, and now this (not counting everything else), I guess it would be A LOT...

Yeah, that would be a lot

I'm certain though that there are a few people around here who would like to do stuff with it.

My modding computer is working again! Turns out a bunch of dust was clogging the fan and all I had to do was clean it out. So now I got the ASA files up:

They've been added to the initial post as well! :D

Glad to hear that! :)

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I have yet to download it and try it. Can't now, I'm going somewhere for the weekend :P

Can't wait to see those new models too. Nice how they're both from Isla Nublar. Circuit breakers, perhaps the maintenance shed, a car to get there, might make a good atmosphere for a new level. (Something I'm planning—perhaps over the summer.)

Well, the models included in the INMT (which I think I should have stated earlier) are these:

Various Control Room computers: Iris Crimson, Iris Indigo, Macintosh Quadra 700, CM5. I'm not sure if I fixed the UVWs on this copy of the CM5 model. The LEDs were animated in the wrong direction on the old version and I don't know if this is the old version or the new one...

The Jurassic Park Gates: I believe something is wrong with this mesh, I'm not sure. If someone can test it real quick to see if it works, that would be great. When I had originally started putting this together, I had put a broken mesh in. I can't remember if I replaced it with the working version or not.

Breakers: This includes much of the stuff used to make the breakers seen working in the Test level. Including some higher resolution versions of the texture used on the face of the box and the inside of the door itself. All Breaker textures with C, D, and E in the name aren't actually used in the final version (though are still set as textures for it, something that needs to be fixed). Also included are some PSDs and the font used on the breakers, if you want to create your own custom breakers.

Vehicle Tour Track: This tour track isn't the best, but it's the last version I made for JPO.

I'm adding some renders to the first post now.

Oh and it also includes some of the new textures I was creating for the JP Jeep, all clean versions with some more detail added. They were still WIP.

My modding computer hasn't been functioning for the last two months, lol. I JUST got it working again.

I think I should explain it a bit more: The computer started overheating and shutting off in like 10 minutes and I couldn't run most programs, especially resource heavy programs like 3ds Max. I couldn't hear the fan at all, even on start-up, so I believed the fan was dead and I was broke. So, in order to keep the computer from frying completely, I decided to wait until I had the money to get it fixed so I set it aside and rigged my half-broken desktop to work. It was a rather tough decision because I didn't want to stop working so soon after I made my announcements, but I had to just to keep from losing it all. This IS the only place my work is currently saved, hence why I'm releasing stuff now.

Now the desktop was a piece of junk. The hard drive on it failed back in 2010 (one of the things that killed JPO). So what I did was rig it with a 18 GB hard drive from my first desktop and a 500 GB external. Of course, Vista being the piece of junk that it is decided to fill the boot drive with that stupid winsxs folder and without any service packs I had no tool to clean up that folder, so I couldn't install a whole lot on it after a while. But I did get Firefox working on there, hence how I was able to remain in contact during this time. Also ponies.

I recently decided that if it was going to be a while before I could get the laptop fixed, then I might as well get some stuff off of here and release it to the public. When I went to get files off of it recently, I realized the fan WAS running. Doing a quick search online I found out that my laptop (Acer laptops in general actually) is prone to sucking in dust/hair/etc and clogging the vent for the heat sink. So I had to open up the bottom of the laptop, pull out the entire heat sink/fan unit, open the fan, and blow air through the vents to blow out all the crap. Once I did that, the computer started working.

That was only a couple days ago, so I haven't had the chance to work on any modelling. In fact the first day this laptop was working, I had to force it to update to Service Pack 2 (I never noticed that it hadn't done it automatically like it should have) and then apply the 42 updates that the laptop didn't download because Service Pack 1 was no longer supported. Microsoft is awesome like that. I'll be able to get back to work on modeling soon.

*Grant voice* I hate computers. *end Grant voice*
