Better physics and dino behavior

Post by lizard lips »

Hello, I'm lizard lips. I'm new here and I would love to tell this good idea. You know how amnesia the dark descent has better physics like walls crumbling and doors being smashed down. I think there should be a patch in which dinosaurs like the raptor can go inside buildings and if the door is blocked or it can't open it, it will prceed to smash it down. It woul;d ad much more realisim to it. And also big dinosaurs like the abertosaurus and t rex can smash through walls and buildings and push over trees and other obstacles. There should also be a patch for better dinosaur paths so they can go to places more eaily and remove the bug in which when a dinosaur touches a wall it will be bounced back. Also a patch for if the dinosaurs get stuck in walls and not to metion, when you use random object placing, they will compleately run right past you and ignore you to get somewhere they where meant to be. And on more thing, there should be a little more realistic dinosaur behavior like being scared in which it will run off, for raptors, realistic rapor comunicattion, like seen in the Jurassic Park movies and also some t rex behavior like if you be still it will let out a roar and it will not see you like in the movie. I hope you love this topic and I hope it inspired you. I'm pround to be in this forum. I love dinosaurs and Jurassic Park.

Some of the things you mention can already be done... some of the others would require extra work (hacking at the very least, or rewriting the code).

well one thing I wish is, the dinos could actually bend down and bite you, insted of being able to crouch down and a t-rex can't bite you. Even when your right under, it can step on you, but it can't tilt it's head down and bite you.

I don't think the Trespasser Twilight patches are necessary (I know the second is only for a modding tool), so you shouldn't need them. Although I'm pretty certain that the download links on that page are working, though, but I'll just provide them here again.

PATCH 1:download/file.php?id=443

PATCH 2:download/file.php?id=480

If you have any other questions, ask!

Thanks, your the best, but by the way, after you download it, where do you put it and how do you run it. I just don't want to do something stupid that might mess up the game.

Where you place it for the most part does not matter, it should still work. Just don't place it in the same folder that other trespasser stuff the ordinary game) is in.

For example, I created a new folder in the root of my C Drive, just like you do with Tres CD, and I named it "TrespasserTwilight." I then put the downloaded .rar file into that folder and extracted it. Now you just need to download a level, install it (as instructed in the guide), and then play! The actual program you need to run is named Trespasser Twilight.exe, which is in the "Game" folder, one of many folders that should be there.

One more thing, I did what you said but some of the levels won't work. When in the loading screen, they crash. How do it fix this, or do I have to use something else.

First off, wha level did you download? Some levels have extra stuff that isn't explained in the guide but eventually will be.)

For every level, you need to make sure you have all of the necessary files, a scn, grf, wtd, swp, and a pid. Those five files are required. What level did you download?

Ok...

Both of those levels are modifications of retail levels, and thus do not have all of the required files in the download.

The Jungle, for example, contains only:

jr.grf
jr-130.pid
jr.scn

You see, this is the main reason why Trespasser Twilight is necessary. As you can see here, only three of the five files are here. The other ones you must get from the retail (Tres CD).

So what we need are:

jr.wtd
jr.swp

To get the .wtd file, move into the data folder of the retail (Tres CD), and then proceed to copy and paste that file (jr.wtd) into the data folder of Trespasser Twilight.

Getting the .swp file is a bit more complicated. You may look all the way through your retial's data folder, but you aren't going to find it in there. You WILL see jr-130.spz. A .spz file is simply a compressed version of a .swp file. In order to get the file (jr-130.swp) needed, you must run Trespasser (the ordinary retail one), and load the Jungle Road level (jr.scn in the level-select menu). Once you've loaded it, exit Trespasser and get into the C:\Tres CD\ folder. That folder should be the main one with the actual game .exe in it (trespassATX2.exe). Inside that folder, because you just loaded the Jungle Road level, you should see jr-130.swp. Then, copy and paste that file into Trespasser Twilight's data folder.

Once you have all five of the correct files in Trespasser Twilight's data folder, it should work! Enjoy!

Now for Pine Valley, you will notice the files in the download are just:

demo.scn
demo.grf

This level is a modification of the demo level. This means you need files from the (official) Trespasser demo. If you haven't already you can download the Trespasser demo in the "Other" page of TresCom's download section. Once you have the demo installed, find the required files. You may notice that the files in the demo are a little different. The files that you will need from the demo are:

pv.wtd
demo-130.swp
demo-130.pid

There is no "demo.wtd" because the demo level is actually a modified version of the lost "Pine Valley" level (which the level you're trying to get is recreating, ironic). You may also notice that there is no "demo-130.spz" because the demo needs .swp files, just like Trespasser Twilight does (as Trespasser Twilight's exe is just modified from the demo's). So, copy and paste those three files into your Trespasser Twilight's data folder. Then you should be ready to play (assuming you already haved the modded files you downloaded in there).

It all may seem complicated, but you get used to it. You just need to make sure you have all five level files for it to work.
