Try.

..around you..

My grammar nazi side also says T-Rexes rather than T-Rexs, but that's not really a problem. :P

Otherwise, all good, from what I can see (although I only read through it rather than copy/paste this time).
Fixed them. Thank you again, grammer-nazi :) .

No new *public* updates for today, as my Intenet explorer is quite busy with something mysterious...

Big Update! Steps to Trespassing now has its very own site: http://stepstotrespassing.yolasite.com/

There isn't much on the site, but there will be soon. Although of course, once I'm done making it the guide will still be able to be seen here, and possibly even a downloadable version. On the site will probably be more stuff though, stuff that you would find a fansite.

Also, I am proud to announce that instead of making a boring old text step-by-step walkthrough, I am making my very own video playthrough, in LP format (commentated playthrough). I already have two parts made, but I will only be able to upload one each day, starting tomorrow. Also, I'm proud to say that the playthrough will be avaible to 720p HD! :D How I managed to get it to HD I don't know, as just a few days ago I wasn't even able to record 800x600 at a half-decent framerate. The playthrough will be uploaded to YouTube.

*To Glitchhunter09: If you read this I would like to thank you as I found the free hosting on you own carnivores fansite.

You may ask why I didn't have the site hosted on TresCom. I hosted it on Yola because I have zip-nodda skills in HTML, and the site provided easy tools to make the site without HTML skills. :P

I'm Confused.

I have thought for years that a good FPS game based on Jurassic Park would rock. I have seen youtube videos of Tresspasser and was saddened by the game being so old and strange looking compared to today's FPS games. This gals arms holding the gun are really long and look out of place. I found this site and forum when I decided to search for mods for this game.. kinda half expecting to find none because the game was so old.

But If I am reading this forum correctly there are mods available?

I see the main site has some updated models for download.. what I am looking for is a complete overhaul of this game to bring it kicking and screaming into the twentieth century. Is the above such a guide? If not, where can I find all of the mods, levels, game engine improvements, meshes, models and updated textures to make this game look good and playable for today? Is there a master list with download links where I can get all of that?

Edit:

er.. I'm trying to cobble this together from the downloads section. I followed your instructions above and installed the game to the Tres CD folder I had copied the CD to. . but now i want to apply Patch 1.1 Full to update my game. How do I do that since the game is no longer installed in the default directory? The patch does not ask me where the game executables are so i have no indication that it patched correctly.

Thanks.

The program location is stored in the registry, so if you did the installation as indicated, the patcher should have no problems whatsoever...

As for overhauling with new models... try the newest TC levels (search for the "TC Trilogy"), as the models are stored in each level's files, not in a separate folder. You can also try the JPDS releases and East Dock. For game engine improvements, just get the latest ATX, that is enough.

Thanks ( again) I'll check out those mods/levels. I found out the 1.1 patch did install correctly because when I tried to re-run it I got a message saying the exe was already patched.

Btw I'm checking out your link to The Carnivores Saga. Kool.

I guess I forgot about the 1.1 patch, didn't I?! :o

I'll add stuff about other patches in the guide.

Yes, the ATX already has the updated exe. The only thing you may want the 1.1 patch for is to get the updated level files. (there aren't many major differences though, I don't think I've did anything with the 1.1 patch at all.) Sorry for the confusion. Anyways, The TC_Triology and JPDS mods are for certain must-downloads. Both are stand-alones though, meaning they won't need a previous installation of Trespasser (except for the sound files, if I'm not mistaken.)

To clarify, this guide is to help people get the game, play it, and create there own mods. Not finished though, I'm working on it.

Updates for the site/guide! The first part of my video playthrough is up! Look in the walkthrough section of the guide for the link! You can also view it directly off of the site (the in-progress guide is now there). (Or you can just click here) Just a little silly note, I accidentally saved the video in Movie Maker at the wrong resolution, so the quality my be less than it should be (still HD though), and I can't bother to re-edit it and re-upload it (took over 7 hours to upload, it's about 15 minutes long). I'm playing on Hard mode, too. :o Of course you don't have to, but hey, more fun for me. :P

Most updates for now will be for the walkthrough and the site. LtSten he would perhaps do some of the artwork for me, and I got permission from Madppiper to provide direct links to files hosted on TresCom. Videos will be uploaded daily.

Also, something good for you grammer-nazis out there, is that I got a new keyboard (after a very frustrating process). The previous one just really started to spaz out. Hopefully now there won't be as many typos.

(some of the things stated above might not be currently true, I'm working on it. )

Update! Part two of the video walkthrough is up! Take a look at the guide (which one doesn't matter) to see it! (Or just click here.)

There's also some other updates to the site, but I'll leave that up to you to figure them out. (Link is in sig.)

Well, there's no new part of the video walkthrough today. Darn "update this already fully-functioning program/system now!" hogged the internet connection. I still have 6 parts recorded and edited, though, so don't think I'm not making them. I'll try to upload part 3 tomorrow instead.

As for the site, tonight I'm going to work on some generic stuff, might change the backround, add a few pages, some other stuff. Better!!

Gotta start writing more of the guide soon.

My internet connection speed is too slow! After more than 8 hours the upload was only at 67%, and it said that there were still more than 4 hourse left! Guess that's why I shouldn't be using a wireless connection. I'll try to get a wired connection set up, then it will be much faster. :?

Anyways, I added quite an extensive guide to playing fan-made levels, basic ones anyways. It's in the guide here, but it's not on the site yet. Not much else to say, as I didn't have much time today! But for now, I have some school work to do...

¡Hasta Luego! :)

All right everyone... update!

I apologize for the recent lack of any other updates. I've been busy with some other stuff, school exams included.

As for updates to the guide, I'm going to do a lot of work today, but what exactly cannot be determined.

As for the video walkthrough, part 3 is currently up! The main reason for the delay is that the videos are HD. The upload takes way too long (I was unable to get a wired connection). I did try to convert them, but upon opening them to edit them a seemingly unneccesary yet unstoppable task hogs all my CPU, overheats it, and causes an emergency shutdown  . All future videos that I have not already recorded will be made in 640x480 rather than HD, which will make things a whole lot easier. I don't think the quality will deminish much, as I will then be able to have higher quality in other areas... fps and compression quality, loading times will be much shorter.

But for now I'm just going to keep uploading the already-HD videos until there done.

It's going to be a long time.

Meh. (Part 3 of the video is here.)

Ok...

I apologize for the little absence. Unfortunately, life always manages to impede me in my efforts. Long story short, I was busy.

Nonetheless, Part 7 of the Trespasser Let's Play is up, so go take a look (you know where to find it...). Partly glad and partly sad to say that's only in 640x480 rather than HD, but that resolution's much easier to manage, and I know that not everyone here has fast enough connections to watch in HD, so I think that it's for the better.

As for the guide/site, me and LtSten (guess you could call him a contributer now) have been working out a download section, but I'm afraid to put anything on there until this SOPA and PIPA stuff is over.

I am truly sorry for the lack of work being done, but it's a little to difficult to come home from a long day at school and have to work some more, and Trespasser isn't the only thing I have to live up too. But I also have a few other 'secret' things Trespasser-related things I'm working on, but there's no guarantee about how those things will turn out.

But for now, I think the easiest thing to do is to finish the video walkthrough, and doing that might help show how serious I am, and perhaps it will become inspiration for the overall goal of the project.

I would appreciate any feedback, positive or negative, about how this project's going along... especially now that this is my 6th post in a row.

@madpiper, I have a beta 96 article Tatu never added to Trescom. Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?1t5474s9zq66p9a
screenshots included with the word document so you can add them to the site faster. Also, apologies for derailing this thread, I've just been wanting this and a couple of my mods up on the site for quite a while.
