Model request: a bridge

Post by Slugger »

Hey all --

Is there anyone who is still around and free who wouldn't mind making a quick model for me? It's just a bridge, so I think it'll be rather easy and quick. There's a bunch of structural data online, and I can provide many additional reference pictures I've taken of the actual bridge:

Thanks!

If you do, great! If someone else gets around to it sooner, great! haha

I can try it if you want, since I know Draco doesn't have Max at the moment - my only question is, how accurate are you looking to have it? And do you want it done using a single UV map, or Tres-style with a bunch of smaller textures? Accuracy modelling is still relatively difficult for me...

Haha well how accurate can you model it? I would expect it's fairly simple - just exposed ibeams and it's symmetric with a mirror axis down the middle.

As accurate as pictures allow, though I usually stick to low-poly models. Is this for use in Tres, or something else? Either way I can try it, I'll let you know what I come up with.

If you want to take a crack at it, I can send you over my reference images (PM me). Yeah, it'll be for use in a Tres level.

That is a good find, machf! I need a second bridge too, and I was planning on just using the one from the first TC Ops level, but this'll do nicely. And can be adapted to the first bridge too, if TheIdiot doesn't want to try modeling it.

How do I convert the Sketchup format to something that GeomAdd likes?

Only way is to export it to something like .3ds (which doesn't include the textures), or some other format that Gmax or Studio Max can import, and then export it to TPM, since 3ds doesn't handle long texturenames.

Import the Sketchup file into 3DS MAX and export as a .tpm?

That is provided that the .SKP files have the faces aligned correctly, however, since Tres doesn't have double-sided faces from what I've seen. Have downloaded many .SKPs where the faces were all wrong and had to fix them manually.
