Bringing it up the well

Hi, I'm currently working on translation of Trespasser into the Czech language, and I have a problem with translation of phrase Bringing it up the well. Could anybody explain to me please what does it mean? Thank you in advance.

Pretty much what it says. It means pulling it up out of the "well". When you make a well, you dig into the earth to reach water. What they were doing in the story of Trespasser was extracting DNA from mosquitoes in amber and using DNA of frogs to make complete DNA strands. The well here is the process of retrieving a complete DNA sequence with which they could clone prehistoric animals.

It's not a direct correlation as far as I can tell..

So umm, are you translating the subtitles in Czech language? How do you access the subtitles files and change them? I once wanted to do that in Finnish but I didn't know how to change them.

Czech subtitles already exist. I'm going to contact amateur dubbing group which is specialized in PC games.

The captions are stored in the tpa files along with the sounds themselves.You can edit them with TPA reader.
