Post by kryptoraptor.blog »

Can somebody colorize larger brachiosaurus to orange and give me the download link?(you can do it in gimp). I realy need orange colorized brachiosaurus and i just can´t do it on my computer(i don´t know the reason, i just can´t). Before you give me the link, just make sure that all the parts are showing in right colours in TresEd. Thank you in advance

A rather interesting request. I guess I could do it, but why exactly can't you do it yourself? I'll do it though.

EDIT: I see now why you couldn't. It's because they're 8-bit images, I'll try to export them all as 24-bit, and them colorize them, and then turn them back into 8-bit. No guarantees though.

EDIT 2: Well GIMP wouldn't let me export them as 24-bit BMPs, so instead I tried exporting them as PNGs.

But still, when I run the colorize tool, it says, "Colorize only operates in RGB space."

I'm stumped.

Why not use the JPOG brachiosaurus?

Because there´s something wrong with it. Some parts are black in TresEd. I mean, when i view the dinosaur in TresEd, some parts are black.

Black parts indicate that the textures were imported incorrectly or not at all.

Are you modifying a retail level or are you using a custom level?

Hmm, try importing it again. Does GeomAdd give any error messages?

It says the textures of body and tail is too big. I will make it smaller and try it again

That would be a problem. The dimensions have to be powers of 2, and 256 is the max. So, you can have images that are 64x128, but you CAN"T have images that are, say, 42x232.

Here's the applicable Powers of 2 for easy reference:

1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256

Though I doubt you'd use the first four at any time. The smallest texture in the game is 8X8, which is used on occlusion objects (Objects used to hide other objects so the engine doesn't render them to increase performance).

You also can't have more than 256 colors in the bitmap. Importing 24-bit bitmaps results in the textures appearing semi-transparent. 24-bit bitmaps are best known for the ability to have gradients on opacity maps as opposed to straight white and black, though there is a small misalignment in the import process that has to be accounted for beforehand. But all this is beside the point.
