Unity3d tech showcase of object manipulation in VR

Post by Double_G »

I stumbled across this video on Reddit. Somebody is working on a framework for Unity3d that allows very impressive interaction with the environment in VR. I couldn't help but imagine what this kind of level of interaction would do to a possible Trespasser remake. Just see for yourself. If OP will ever release this framework it would open a whole new frontier for us to explore and play with. I hope I can post a Reddit link here

That does look pretty interesting I have to admit. Suddenly the idea of an "arm control" is hip again.

Trespasser is the sort of game that should have encouraged other game developers what they should have been doing.

I can't help feel reading interviews that Seamus Blackley and his team knew what the future was and that enough promise about the future from silicon manufacturers indicated a considerable jump in PC performance.
The only jump I remember is when Intel released the Conroe over a decade later. Before that, it was awful.
I also remember AMD's FX which cost $700.

It's not Seamus' fault. It's the drip feeding of CPU tech that inched along but furlonged the cost of getting those inches.

I could see that.
