Seamus Blackley in Atari documentary

Post by Hilwo »

Has anyone seen the "Atari: Game Over" documentary? Just watched it on NetFlix. Seamus Blackley is in it, too, for a few short moments. He mentions what hé thinks is the worst game of all time.

Edit: at about 56:35

Lots of people say it's E.T., did he say it too?

(Personally, I think all those people saying it could never finish the game. I did. In all the difficulty levels.)

Agreed. I think they only hated it because they couldn't beat it since there's really nothing fundamentally wrong with it. Sure, it's extremely cryptic, but so were many popular games - The Legend of Zelda, for example.

No, he mentioned another game being the worst game of all time.

To be honest, I've always loved E.T., but I've never really played the game. I read about it, but thought people hated it due to a bug where you'd keep falling in some pit.
So, that was difficulty and not a bug? There was nothing about it in the documentary either, just that people thought it was hard and they didn't like it.

That was no bug, it was just that it was difficult. If you stopped levitating too early, you would fall back into the pit. You had to time it properly. Levitate up, then quickly move to the side so that you're not on top of it anymore, then stop levitating to land on the ground.
