Looking good SI. ;) Btw that JP3 rex looks like it still has the OG leg and arm textures :P The female looks good though I bet Slash (or DemonCarnotaur when he sees it) will note that its skin pattern isn't totally accurate.. the OG skin was actually very very close, I would suggest merging that in the areas where you didn't have good photoreference. :)

Actually, it's mostly a matter of adjusting the contrast and some other parameters...

Lol well the eyes are pretty dark on the female there but otherwise the brightness and contrast looks nice on them. :D Hmm lol send those over to me whenever the next time is that we get back to the Spino etc... (I have a plan to fix the textures, we need to put all the opacities on 1 texture and only opacities, removing them fro the other maps; this was the cause of the particle transparency flaw).

Machf was right. I used the female from the dino chart and then overlayed a black and white version of the male's skin (though very transparent) to give it some "texture". Never went back and played around with contrasts or anything but he got it looking pretty good.

But looking at some more shots I've got, I might go back and touch it up a bit. Machf if you could send me the new textures with the contrasts that would be cool or I could just touch up mine and send them to you.

And yeah the rex isn't quite done yet.

As a side note, here is what the spino looks like in OG:

Coolness.. hmm yeah the OG Spino appears to have a more contrasting skin and more vibrant colors. Were all the pieces of your texture taken from the height chart or did some come from other areas? Things like the eye would definately be better to get from someplace else.

Actually the spino skin is the same for both of them using this picture:

And I made the eye myself.

Your female raptor looks much better than SI's, machf! Sorry SI! :(

BTW SI, you could have used this picture instead:

It's the same raptor, I just never played with the contrasts and stuff. I could have, but Machf already did it right after I sent it to him.

And I don't see what's wrong with the spino. Sure I could have used that picture as a reference, but I liked the one that I used better. In the end it's my choice...

I don't find that anything is wrong with your spino, I'm just saying you could have used that picture instead. Some people think your spino texture is blurry, *cough* Draco *cough*, and maybe using that picture would have made it less blurry.

Ahhh I see. Well really you can see why I chose the one I did if you compare the two pictures up close. The one I chose shows the blues in the sail where as the size chart one doesn't. I was originally going to do it with the size chart picture until I found the one I used. There's just so much more color depth in the picture I used.

I must say, those Velociraptor skins look aweful pretty. I can't wait to see them in game.

I also agree that the color selection in the Spinosaur was the better choice. Awesome work, SI.

Hmmm, looking at those pics, I would say the one SI used is actually better in most respects. Amazingly, they are nearly the same size, too. I might only say that the head texture might be better off coming from the size chart... (the shape of the snout looks a tad diff, too - they may have modified it in 3D after scanning the macette)
