Alright everyone... don't crap your drawers. This is only a long-shot idea, that I might do in the future if I have time. I was considering various aspects of the plot we have set up, and a few things it leaves open at the end of the story. With a little bit of imagination to aid... I created a scenario by which JPDS might be sequaled:

- JP: Return to Darkness -
===================
It has been 10 years now since the Jurassic Park Insident, 5 years since Tasha Carter traveled on a doomed InGen helicopter with 3 others to Site B, being the sole survivor of the crash, and discovered what had happened to her deceased brother. She left behind a savage landscape, filled with crumbling facilities and prehistoric monstrocities. Tasha considered escaping from the island alive and alone on an InGen resque boat to the her greatest achievement ever. Returning was the single most undesireable prospect she could imagine...

One rainy afternoon in Californa, Tasha received a telephone call she never should have answered. Her dead brother was listed in their grandfather Jack's will, entitled to $50,000 of his own life savings. When Tasha informed the barer of this news that Daniel was no longer living, it was revealed to her that she was entitled to this money, if she could prove herself to be his closest blood relative. Tasha immediately called the appropriate agencies - hospitals, what remained of InGen Technologies - but none retained a record of his DNA profile. She knew that the only way to recieve this $50,000, which she desperately needed to pay off her student loans, was to go back to Isla Sorna - Hell on Earth - and get the blood sample herself.

====================
Much has changed on Site B since Tasha's first visit. Alan Grant, one of the survivors of the Insident, had come with a small group of others in search of a boy who had been on the island for over a month. A few of them barely escaped with their lives, newly invoking the wrath of the resident Spinosaur and releasing the Rogue Faction's pteranodons on the world.
In addition to this, the volcanic chambers of Isla Sorna have become unstable, and the entire island is now in danger of destruction. Lava vents have opened up around the island, covering jungles and old facilities alike with moutlen rock, and earthquakes have already sent much of the land into the sea.
Tasha has arrived on the island by boat in secret, unaccompanied by escorts, and begins her uncertain trek into the island from the Main Harbor, the other side of the island from the Embryonics Administration. She must now fight not only the remnants of her brother's creations, but the wrath of the land itself, as the island slowly burries itself into the sea, to be forgotten under the ocean for all time - taking her along with it.

I'm not going to lie, the story sounds corny as heck. I had a story idea (which goes with my temple level) where a woman goes to the island to meet up with her husband to explore these ancient mayan ruins that they have been searching for for years (that he thinks he's found on this island). Something like that, then they find out there's dinos there...I had it planned for a series of small levels....

Anyway, let's get JPDS done first :wink:

Heheh 100% agreed. And nice level idea, btw. :) Would be cool to see it made... (JPDS3 will imploy MANY new Mayan ruins, and actually none of the old ones, with some minor exceptions)

I'll be honest my story idea is somewhat corny too though.

But I already have the temple and some terrain editing of the level...

I had trouble placing a waterfall so that's not in. But I already have some puzzle ideas for the temple area.

I can hold on to it if you want to do it as a project after JPDS or as a side project. Again I was thinking a series of small levels....

Heh very nice... I see you've made good use of my fences xP They don't look quite as blue as I made them.. *considers changing the color on his version* BTW I should upload my "MayanCity0" level, it's pretty cool despite being unfinished...

I'm downloading to check it out. I think the fences are less blue because I just paste textures over the terrain object texture in paint to get them on the right pallete.

I've had rough ideas about a JPDS sequel, but they don't really involve Isla Sorna, Isla Nublar, or even InGen (as a main plot element, anyway).

Rather, they are set elsewhere (possibly mainland or various areas, perhaps around the world as Tasha/main character investiages), and the plot expands upon and deepens the BioSyn storyline. Unfortunately, my ideas are not exactally suitable for the Tres engine.

I had an idea that it would end with a government raid on the last area of the game, a BioSyn Research Building, after the main character infiltrates it.

A sequel of this sort is spawned from my idea for a JPDS ending, which involves BioSyn's retrieval of vital data from the island just as Tasha is escaping Isla Sorna. This would lead into the idea that the torch has kind of been passed on to them, and the story would follow them thereafter.

I personally feel that Sorna/Nublar/InGen storylines have been played out, and BioSyn-related plots have often been corny, childish, or involve one of the aforementioned played out story elements. I think BioSyn could be made out to be an awesome villianous corporation independant of the two islands and InGen (the three I's). They also have a history of illegal research that could be developed further. Let's not forget that Dodgson went so far as to attempt murder on Sarah Harding in The Lost World novel. And they were indirectly responsible for all of the deaths on Isla Nublar. They also released a virus somewhere to test its effects on people.

Let's face it, BioSyn is a ruthless major corporation. They are way above sending little teams of men to steal dinosaur eggs at this point, especially when they have access to InGen's secrets through the RF now.

The fact that BioSyn is so notorious is another reason why the climactic ending raid by the government is that much more plausible.

But those are just my thoughts :)

Dude I hadn't quite anticipated that.. even while I think I now remembered it was gonna have something to do with BioSyn. Sounds quite intriguing, though you're right about Tres not being the right engine for such a game. :? Who knows what may come....

Yeah, I kind of imagined a raid by the Federal Government that puts an end to BioSyn once and for all.

Actually Mickey, that does sound like something you would like to see/help make :D Biggest problem is, human enemies. That would prove to be very difficult in Trespasser. I think it actually is perhaps more possible than some realize, but still might not look very good. :? And from the sounds of it.. that is a lot of what Mike has in mind. To be honest I'm not used to creating games with only human enemies yet, anyway! ^^;;

Thinking about it a little more, I thought it'd be interesting if the sequel explored more than one area (ie Isla Sorna, Isla Nublar, BioSyn HQ).

It would be pretty cool if they visited all kinds of locales that vary very greatly in design (tropical island, rural Costa Rican town, advanced research headquarter building, etc.) in an investigation of sorta of BioSyn's crimes. Following a trail all the way up to the top, and catching them at the source just as the Federal Government steps in to take them out for good.

Basic level structure could be:
First Level: Tasha/Main Character visits a small, secluded Costa Rican village deep in the jungle where sightings of extremely agressive animals have been reported. Pressumably these animals would be connected to BioSyn in someway.

Last Level: Tasha/Main Character infiltrates a BioSyn research facility, perhaps looking for evidence, or to sabotage their efforts.

Heck, it could be Tasha looking for revenge if we were to go the whole "RF was sabotaged by BioSyn route." I always imagined Tasha and Danny were quite close - I once considered writing a part of their background to include a loss of both parents at some point, explaining why the two relied on eachother and why Tasha would go to such great lengths to locate him.

Who is she as a character, like what's her experience, education, occupation.

If she has some kind of training, I could buy that she would infiltrate these places for revenge. But if she was just your average person, it makes it a lot less believable...

Actually SI, considering basic elements of our plot (and that fact we had already desided to give her a camo outfit), we desided that she WAS enlisted in her local reserve or something like that. Otherwise they would never have let her come along in JPDS. Somewhere we desided that, wish I knew which thread it was.. anyways I do think we desided she is like army reserve, with some training but doesn't exactly go out to fight all the time.

Mike that level set-up does sound neat.. needs much more development but sounds good. :) I do wonder what sorts of facilities BioSyn would have.. and what reasons she would have to return to either of the islands.
