I was looking around the site, when I found this concept screenshot of a JP1-ish raptor on a lift, and I was wondering has anyone ever did a JP1 raptor? Is it realy a JP1 raptor?

I love that pic!

Someone might have done a jp1 raptor, or just named it as a brown raptor. I know the raptors were brown, but can't remember if there a variation in one or two of them/

Look around in some skinning topics, you might find something related to it.

Yup I got them. Thanks, they'll go great for a photorealistic JP pack. (I already have on for a JP3 pack).

Did you find them in a book and scan them?

One from "The Making of Jurassic Park" and the one that's just the raptor from "Jurassic Park: The Official Souvenir Magazine"

Just some input for anyone here who hasn't realized this: The raptors were brown in JP1 because they were all female. In The Lost World, male raptors were first seen. They were orange with black stripes. The brown, female raptors can be seen in The Lost World, but not often. There are more male raptors in The Lost World than females.
The same goes for the T-Rexes: Males are green, females are brown. And then there's that weird orange-dark green one in the Ascent 1. I can't explain that coloration.

This T-Rex:

It's also featured in the demo. I have no idea why the game makers felt the need to make their own T-Rex or why they needed to make three raptor tribes, two of which weren't in any movie.

That the (unofficially referred to) Temple Guardian Rex.

And they only had the rights to certain things from the movies, that's why. And just copying textures from a movie is no fun.

Heh, wow okay let me set the record straight.

There are three raptor tribes in Trespasser in order to have a reason for them becoming tougher as the game goes along. Otherwise they are randomly more powerful later on for no reason, as enemies are in most games. The first tribe is like the classic TLW raptors, the second tribe was a made-up skin for which the developers used their own imagination (as any good game designers should), and the third is a recolor of the original raptors, a bit more tiger-like I suppose; and then of course, RaptorCBoss is a recolor of THAT, being black and red. The exact method of visually differentiating the raptor tribes was not decided on until fairly late in development. All original conceptual images of Trespasser show only the orange&red classic TLW raptor. However, there is this image which shows what was probably their first concept for a second tribe:
http://trescom.3dactionplanet.gamespy.c ... aptors.jpg
This follows your point of the female raptors being brown fairly well, which of course then goes into conflict with the basic idea, because the skin difference is intended to represent tribes and not gender. (In JPDS, there are 2 skins for each tribe, either male/female or normal/alpha, which adds up to be a lot of skins and is probably why the Tres devs did not take that route.) After that, there is the fabled "brown raptor" seen in several images, such as this:
http://trescom.3dactionplanet.gamespy.c ... asser4.jpg
I can see why they didn't stick with that. The raptor tribes all end up being too similar to each other, so a development decision was made to create 3 radically different raptor tribe skins which could be instantly identified by the player from any distance. This is the manner in which you proceed in creating a working game, not in recreating a movie environment, and it's important to realize what they set out to do.

As for the tyrannosaur, many people here (perhaps even a majority) refer to him as the "temple guardian rex", a term I believe was coined sometime in the past 2 years. It's kinda funny since there aren't really temples in Ascent 1, but it has a nice ring to it and a pyramid is close enough. ;P I'm not on my own computer at the moment so I can't bring up the model name, but it is in fact the Alpha rex, just as RaptorCBoss is the alpha raptor. Alpha males are frequently major components of JP games, and make for an easy way to create boss-dinos when you don't want to create a whole new creature. (yay for Deinosuchus! :yum: ) Like the second "red" raptor tribe, the skin for the Alpha rex was conjured out of their imagination, and like Nedry, they felt they needed to keep a back door open. ;)
