What exactly am I looking at here?

Is it some modified fog thing? I've stared at it long and hard but can't fingure it out? :?

An test image of clouds at the crater edge of 'Island X' aka TresCom Isle. It's really a few billboards (like the horizon trees) with a 16bit transparant texture on it.

It actually had remarkably little visual issues, but because the billboards are locked to the vertical access you can't walk through/under them without looking weird. I placed them over the steep areas of the crater cliffs where you couldn't walk so you woulnd't have that problem.

We sort of forgot to add it eventually.

Once the site/forums upgrades are done I'll try to dig up those files for you people to play with.

I thought it was some type of fog, but I wasn't sure how it was rendered. I thought you had exploited something from the particle system!

Cool, I'd like to check out those files. You guys should release a "Making of Tc-Isle" thing. :D

Say, when is TC-Isle actually going to be finished? It's still a "beta" afterall?

Could you make a model that had volume but was somewhat transperent for fog purposes???

Just got to thinking... you know what would've been really cool? If, in the original game, you ran into clouds or fog like this as you approach the elevator that leads up to the windmills. Then, when you entered the last level, the clouds or fog appeared like it does in TC Isle, all the way to the helicopter pad.

That would have been really cool Dan! Probably not too hard to implement...

the bad part is you would have to group several of them close together..cause getting to close would make them seem flat...

I just recently received some early tc_isle work that never
found its way into the level. Quite cool, I felt I had to show off
Remdul's handywork. I can't even recall why it didn't make the
cut during level construction....

Wow...that's cool....is that a texture animation? Like the original beach one?

You guys need to add this stuff and finish TC-Isle, or release the cut material. 8)

Well, it is in the unreleased version of the isle (among other
things), but what's been added to date doesn't warrant the
release of it.

We may get around to it yet, who knows. Beyond that, the
stuff isn't being wasted, it's either in reserve or will per-
haps be applied to other, future projects.

Hey Rebel, i recall that there was rain, in a beta version of the level? i certainly hope thats in reserve :)

An updated version of it (rain). It still looks the same though
it isn't as harsh on framerates as the rain in the tc testzone.
That particular setup was, well, a test of rainfall to give
other wouldbe level developers an example to work off of.
