Cant get it to work
I am having trouble:
I followed this:
<<< FOR USE IN TRESPASSER DEMO:
1)PLACE FILES INSIDE OF TRESPASS/DATA FOLDER.
2)RENAME TRESPASS FOLDER TO 'TRESPAS'
3)OPEN TC.SCN FILE WITH HEX EDITOR; CHANGE DATA PATHWAY FROM C:/
TRES CD/DATA TO C:/TRESPAS/DATA
4)SAVE YOUR CHANGES.
5)LOAD, AND START LEVEL >>>
But when i use a hex editor to open tc.scn all I see is garbled crapola. What am I doing wrong ?

Ignor, the garbled crapola. Type in find; 'C:/tres cd/'
change that to 'C:/trespas/'
The readable portions of the file are limited...
*If you're going to play inside demo, you should replace all the tpa files with retail versions, too. Otherwise, most of the audio will be missing*

Everyone is getting all mixed up, here.
The beta.level has it's own files; tc.scn, tc.grf, tc-130.pid, tc-130.swp, tc.wtd. Only if you play inside the retail, will the engine generate a copy of the tc.swp file and place it inside of the Dreamworks/trespasser folder.
All of these files should be inside of the Trespas\data folder.
Please verify their location. Also, please be certain that you haven't 'moved' your trespas demo folder. That data path should be;
c:\trespas
If you can't get the tc.scn file altered, let me know and I'll upload one for you.

Uploaded the scn into a self-extracting zip. One point, you need to rename your trespass (demo) folder to 'trespas'. Drop, one of the s's.

Rebel, I still can't understand why this data path string is important. If you open the original SCNs in a binary editor you can see the GRF paths are something like M:\Island\Ingen...GRF. In Andres' minilev the path is Z:\minilev.grf. How come in some cases the path in the file is irrelevant while in this case it matters? I'm asking because loading TC (files copied to a CD-ROM) takes a very long time if the data path is incorrect. Thanks.

The minilev.scn is a dummy file, mostly. The mapping is there only to give the file validity; the scn's value table has been omitted. In the tc.level's case, many of the models are listed in the value table of the scn, therefore it expects to find them listed in both the grf n' scn files.
Not sure what the deal is with the retail's odd Drive letter. Maybe it's an internal character, whereas the engine refers that drive letter to the installed directory. (should have said, drive letter and path)

Do the files absolutely have to be on the C drive ? Because neither my demo nor my retail game are on the C...
Also can I get a checklist of files in the TresCom_Ops_publicbeta0.4.exe ? The instructions talk about a "LI_OTHER_0" file but the beta0.4 I downloaded does not spit this one out.
