Yeah i have heard that the new DWL Cards no longer work/use orinoco... thats why i have to get an old DWL 650 Card (the thing which is outside the pcmcia slot looks like a triangle - in the new version like a rectangle iirc)

I like what this guy says about the Cisco Aironet. The ones I see advertised plainly state that they will work with Linux..

Sky, I've narrowed my choices down to either the Cisco Aironet or the Orinoco Gold. Both seem to have the best Linux support. I'm leaning toward the Orinoco Gold. I understand the Dell Truemobile 1150 is really a Orinoco but can be bought for about 49 dollars, where the Gold card will be about 30 dollars more. From what I've read, the Cisco Aironet is an exellent card, but may need some configuring which I don't feel prepared to do. The Orinoco Gold/Dell Truemobile 1150 seems to work very well right out of the box. Also it's range is about 50 meters. Any thoughts?

Hey Sky...I'm writing this from my wife's WIRELESS laptop! MMMMMUUUUUHHHHHAAAAAhahahahah!!!!!!!!!!

Look mom! no wires! :D

Wasn't that hard either!!

I bought a Linksys WRT54G (802.11g) which is backwards compatible to 802.11b.

I wound up choosing the Proxism Orinoco classic gold card for $62.00!

I turned on and configured the router, slid the Orinoco into the slot, fired it up and everything works with NO CONFIGURATION!!

MMMMMMUUUUUUUHHHHHAAAAahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! :D :D

Didn't have to do a thing! The card worked right out of the box and I didn't even have to open a terminal!
