xgamma

Sky, I'm not having any luck with this. I have located many "solutions" on the net, but none of them will work for me. Maybe it's because I'm using IceWM.
My old Sceptor, Dragon eye monitor is way too dark. if I set Xgamma to -gamma 1.60, it looks just about right, however, it would be nice to have it set to that when X starts, rather than having to do it manually. I've put
xgamma -gamma 1.60
in..
rc.d/rc.local
xinit.rc
~/.xinitrc
~/.bash_profile
~/.bashrc
etc/profile
and every other "xinit" and "rc" and "bash" I can think of and nothing works.
Got any ideas where I could place it to start around the time X does?
Thanks
