Interrogative: So why have a bridge that long? Particularly a footbridge?

The bridge is only the part over the ditch, I guess the rest is the walkway...

I just want to say, I'm stunned that there was a heightmap in the source, and that it turned out to be the terrain from promotional images! Some mysteries solved here, pretty nice!
