Looks like a lot of this level made it into the game, with pieces of it being distributed into the other levels.

It's cool to see that there are more than three Brachs in this walkthrough. "Brachiosaurs are visible in the extreme distance, grazing on the few trees..." More like, "Brachiosaurs are visible in the extreme distance, motionless and floating eight feet in the air," for the retail version.

So there's also a T-Rex here. Could this the missing seventh Rex?

I noticed that, contrary to what many of us believed, there are many dinosaurs with battery collars. This is a very nonlinear level.

There is also no mention of Albertosaurs here, even though people have thought Albertosaurs were in this level. Hammond even says the Albertosaurs "took to the plains like lions to the Serengeti." I'm gonna guess Albertosaurs were involved at some point, but I consider this possible evidence that the dinosaur you had to kill to get the battery was not an Albertosaur.

In fact, I actually suspected that the developers narrowed down the number of dinosaurs with collars in The Plains to one. The question is, what was it Anne had to kill? If I had to guess, I'd go with a Triceratops with a black frill that was bigger than the other Trikes in the area. (An Alpha Trike, perhaps?)
VA134: They're just cows. Just big cows.
VA129: That black crest... Some kind of species varriant. DNA from a different period or.. another continent.
VA135: Must be the big one.
VA136: God, she’s big.
VA137: She’s on to me.
VA138: Come on!
VA139: Finish it, Anne!
VA140: Fall, damn you!
VA141: Come on, fall!
It seems very possible and something the developers would have done, but who knows?

The fight at the dam was a great idea, but it's easy to see why they cut it. It would have been a cool scene, though. It reminded me of the bridge scene in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom."

That cement structure is very mysterious, too. I have no clue what the story behind it could have been. Perhaps this voice over was referring to it?
VA133: Cool in here, some kind of storage…
Maybe?

Well, the structure referenced is the Dam, but one of the devs (Rolf Mohr I think) confirmed for us that this model was the Blockhouse mentioned:

Little tidbit of information that I feel it's proper to convey with the release of this particular piece of the walkthrough.

Oh and machf, this walkthrough mentions your watering hole you've been trying to place :P

That's just a watering hole?
By "watering hole" what came to my mind was something like this other one:

(which was supposed to be somewhere in PV, BTW)

Oh, and that depot, right... I wish I could read the whole sign.

The "watering hole" in the African Plains section of the nearby zoo here is easily the same size as the one shown in that render. Here's a picture of a real watering hole btw:

Well, if that's the watering hole, I wonder what the size of the actual lake was...

...might easily be interchangable terms? Lakes double up as waterholes, after all, but yes, they could be separate. Not read the walkthrough recently..

It seems easy enough to do. To me, it doesn't seem as complicated as Plantation House or Pine Valley. (On a side note, I'd love to see Plantation House recreated, but, of course, I'm sure we all would.)
The only thing that might be tricky would be the collar(s) and batter(y/ies) attatched to the dinosaur(s). It depends whether we go with the initial plan of multiple dinosaurs with collars or what seems to be a decision to limit it to one dinosaur with a collar. We also don't know what species the black-crested dino was or if it was the same one that was meant to be killed to obtain the collar (to me, it seems likely that it was, but I can't prove it).
I gather most of you have seen my hypothesis about a black-frilled Trike being the dino that had to be killed. What are your opinions on that idea?
Also, what if Anne had to kill a Brachiosaurus? It's collar would be high up in the air and give a whole new meaning to the lines, "Fall, damn you!" and, "Come on, fall!" Anne would have to bring the collar down to her level.
So what did she have to kill? Thoughts?

I don't know why, but I just assumed it would be a carnivore.

...well that would be moer of a challenge. Being chased by a brachiosaur is a lot less scary/thrilling than, for instance, a rex.

I guess I just couldn't bring myself to kill a hervibore just to get a battery.
